The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2025 will continue to take place as part of the supporting programme of eight European FIA Formula 1 races. As the top championship in the circle of Porsche one-make cups held worldwide, the Supercup traditionally serves as a training platform for juniors. Four of the 16 races of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany are spread over two event weekends with the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC, before the German one-make cup makes six guest appearances together with the DTM. In total, the Porsche Juniors will compete on twelve different circuits in eight European countries.
Both have already successfully completed parts of their season opening. Alessandro Ghiretti was allowed to compete as a guest driver in the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia support race for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne. The Frenchman secured one race win and two top 7 finishes with the EMA Motorsport team. Theo Oeverhaus was active in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe with Proton Huber Competition. In Barcelona, the German secured a victory and a second place. As further preparation, Oeverhaus will also contest the first round of the Porsche Carrera Cup France on the Spanish Grand Prix circuit with the Martinet by Alméras team.
After two Carrera Cup titles, Ghiretti is targeting further achievements
Alessandro Ghiretti will drive both series for the French team Schumacher CLRT. The 23-year-old won the Porsche Carrera Cup France in the 2024 season with the team of racing professional Côme Ledogar. At the same time, Ghiretti also won the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia with Team Jebsen. The Frenchman finished fifth in the final Supercup drivers' standings. In 2025, he will start his second year in the Porsche Junior Programme.
“In my second season as a Porsche Junior, I want to deliver great results and fight for victories and titles again”, says Ghiretti. “Together with Schumacher CLRT, I'm contesting a double programme this year with the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland, which I'm really happy about. I know the team well, we won the Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2024. Now we can take on a new challenge. Together with the team, I'm ready for this challenge.”
The new Porsche Junior sets himself ambitious goals, too
Theo Oeverhaus is already the 32nd Porsche Junior in the history of this support programme. Team-wise, he will drive on two tracks in 2025: the 20-year-old from Osnabrück will compete in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup with Proton Huber Competition, while he will contest the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland – as in the two previous years – for Bonk Motorsport. He won the rookie title in the German series in 2023 as the best newcomer. He finished his second season in the highly competitive one-make cup in third place. At the same time, his rookie year in the Supercup saw him finish eleventh in the championship and fourth in the rookie classification.
“In my first season as a Porsche Junior, I want to finish at least third in both the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland – even if the real goal is obviously the title in each case”, says Oeverhaus, setting himself ambitious goals. “I'm super happy to be able to contest the season as a Porsche Junior and I'm looking forward to spending time with our driver coach Sascha Maassen and to the support from Porsche off the track in general. I hope that this will enable me to get even more out of myself.”
Successful Porsche Junior Promotion Programme
The Junior Programme is one of the central components of the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer's motorsport pyramid. Since 1997, Porsche Motorsport has been supporting highly talented young drivers and guiding them to the worldwide top with a support package of currently up to 225,000 euros each. Extensive coaching and training in the areas of driving dynamics, mental work, nutrition, fitness and media relations round off the programme.
With great success, as recent examples show: Julien Andlauer, Porsche Junior of 2018 and 2019, joined the works driver squad at the start of the current season. In 2025, the Frenchman drives a Porsche 963 from Porsche Penske Motorsport in the top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Andlauer's team-mates Michael Christensen from Denmark (2012 – 2013), Mathieu Jaminet from France (2016) and Australian Matt Campbell (2017) also come from Porsche's support programme. Laurin Heinrich – Porsche Junior of the Year 2022 – won the GTD Pro title in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship last season. The German's racing car: the 911 GT3 R called ‘Rexy’ from AO Racing.
In total, the previous Porsche Juniors have achieved ten overall victories and over 50 class wins in the 24-hour races at Le Mans and Daytona as well as in the 12-hour classic at Sebring. Added to this are 17 first places in the overall standings of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and 20 titles in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
