eFuels (electric fuel) are synthetic, liquid fuels. They are produced from hydrogen obtained purely from renewable energy and CO₂ (carbon dioxide), which can be filtered from the ambient air, for example.
The development and ramp-up of purely battery-powered vehicles is a top priority. Porsche is aiming to increase the share of all-electric vehicles in global deliveries to more than 80 percent by 2030*. In this context, eFuels serve as a sensible complement to electromobility and thus make their contribution to the defossilization of traffic. Porsche is a driver of innovation in this area. Together with international partners and the Chilean operating company Highly Innovative Fuels (HIF), we have ensured that synthetic fuel has been produced industrially there since the end of 2022.
* Depending on customer demand and the development of electromobility in the respective regions of the world.
"At Porsche, we take a holistic approach to sustainability. That's why we rely on a double E: electromobility and eFuels. Every percent of eFuel added to fossil fuel can reduce CO₂ emissions."
