Karolina Pliskova is not yet in possession of a driver’s license – but a dream car. In the high-class and thrilling final at the 41st Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, the 26-year old Czech defeated the impressive American Coco Vandeweghe 7-6(2), 6-4 in front of a 4,500 crowd in the once again sold-out Porsche Arena. She clinched her tenth career WTA title when converting her first match point after one hour 56 minutes, “It was a very intensive match,” said the happy winner after her first triumph in Stuttgart which handed her a carmine red 718 Boxster GTS. By the time she received the key from Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, she was now set on finally getting a driver’s license: “There can be no better motivation than this car.”

It was a success Petra Kvitova had to wait a long time for. In front of a capacity 4,400 crowd in Stuttgart’s Porsche Arena, the Czech finally won the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix at her seventh attempt – and with it a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet as the main prize. In a high-class final, she defeated Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit 6-3, 7-6(2). “I’ve already lost a few tiebreaks against Anett, so I’m really happy that everything worked out today,” said Petra Kvitova, who replaced the Romanian Simona Halep as the new world No. 2 by winning in Stuttgart. “After failing six times, I’ve finally won this fantastic tournament. This car is a fantastic bonus.”

The 2020 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix did not take pace due to the Corona crisis. In the best interests of the health of the players, ball-girls, spectators and everybody else involved, Porsche cancelled the tournament at an early stage in agreement with the WTA and the local authorities.

Ashleigh Barty’s triumph one day after her 25th birthday has written Stuttgart tennis history. She not only became the first Australian to win the singles final at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix after beating Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 but she also secured the doubles title with Jennifer Brady (USA). She is the first player in the history of the tournament to achieve the feat in the Porsche Arena. The last person to do the double was the American Lindsay Davenport in 2001 – but in Filderstadt. “I’m so happy to be able to come here,” said the winner from Down Under, who received a Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo as the main prize. “Porsche puts on a great event in this fantastic arena and it’s no wonder it has such an incredible field every year.“

Iga Swiatek is Stuttgart’s new tennis queen. The 20-year-old world No. 1 was an easy 6-2, 6-2 winner against last year’s runner-up Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the 45th Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. The victory has duly secured her a Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo. Playing in front of a 4,400-capacity crowd in the Porsche Arena, the Pole, who was making her debut at the long-standing Stuttgart tournament, was dominant throughout. Despite the energy-sapping three-hour semifinal the day before, she was hitting powerfully and going for her shots right from the start against the world No. 4. With the match only 84 minutes old, she converted her third match point. The all-conquering player momentarily on the WTA Tour had extended her winning run to an impressive 23 matches.

In front of a capacity 4,400 crowd in the Porsche Arena, the Pole, who last year won the French and US Opens, appeared a certain winner from the middle of the first set. After one hour 50 minutes, she converted her first match point against Aryna Sabalenka, who lost in the final for the third time in a row.

Premiere for Elena Rybakina: the Kazakh has crowned herself as the new tennis queen of Stuttgart after winning the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix for the first time. The final of the tournament featuring a top-class field including eight Top 10 players and nine Grand Slam champions was won by the world No. 4 from Kazakhstan against the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk. Watched on by a capacity Porsche Arena crowd, the 24-year-old Wimbledon champion thus secured herself a Porsche Taycan 4S Sport Turismo as the main prize. Boasting a world-class line-up, the 47th Porsche Tennis Grand Prix offered its spectators thrilling matches with spectacular rallies right from the start.  Attendance was huge – the Porsche Arena was sold-out on four days. “This year’s Porsche Tennis Grand Prix was outstanding in every sense. We’re very happy and satisfied,” said Tournament Director Markus Günthardt. The Operating Tournament Director Anke Huber raved: “I’ve never seen such good tennis here.”
