New Dynamism
As a Premium Partner of the “Deutscher Tennis Bund” (DTB – the German Tennis Association), Porsche has been supporting Porsche Team Germany since 2012. Led by Anglique Kerber as the No. 1, it once again reached the Fed Cup final after a 22-year gap in 2014. In 2021 and 2023, it qualified as one of the 12 best teams for the finals of the follow-up competition, the Billie Jean King Cup.
The Porsche Brand Ambassador Angelique Kerber played a major part in sparking renewed interest in tennis in Germany. She celebrated her first Grand Slam win at the 2016 Australian Open. After successfully defending her Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, she also won the US Open and became the first German since Steffi Graf to become the world No. 1. In 2018, she fulfilled her big dream by becoming Wimbledon champion.
Two Germans in the Top 10
The new dynamism that Porsche generated in German women’s tennis with its involvement also produced another highlight. After the 2018 Australian Open, two German players – Angelique Kerber and Julia Görges – were ranked in the world Top 10 for the first time since Steffi Graf and Anke Huber. Julia Görges, who also represented Porsche as a Brand Ambassador, called it a day on her successful career in autumn 2020. Other Porsche Team Germany players then caused a stir – Laura Siegemund, winner of the 2017 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, secured the doubles title at the 2020 US Open. At the 2023 WTA Finals, she became the first German to triumph in the doubles. Tatjana Maria sensationally reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2022.
Porsche Team Germany is currently made up of Angelique Kerber, Anna-Lena Friedsam, Eva Lys, Tatjana Maria, Jule Niemeier and Laura Siegemund.
